Natural-Selection 2!
Alright, just a quick post. Sorry I haven’t posted lately. I’ve been busy working on something unrelated to mapping. I will post that something on here when I’m done with it.
At the request of Walnuts I’ve uploaded the balloon_race_v1 source. I’m not sure what you want to do with it, but you have my permission.

Balloon race v2 released!
It’s out! Grab it here:
How balloon_race works
This is for people wanting to create their own race map with capture points that allow the other team to continue if already captured. I’ll explain only the basics, so no speed boosts or alternate paths.
A slightly longer hiatus
I’m taking a break from mapping/blogging for awhile. Not that I mapped or posted much lately but I thought I should let you readers know. I have exams next week and also need to get an apprenticeship somewhere before the month is over. The good news is that I’ll be visiting another company tomorrow. So yeah, homework and finding an apprenticeship has really sucked my free time away.
I’ll return next Wednesday Friday sometime next week. D:
Christmas All the way
Merry Christmas all.
Site update, themes
I was thinking of changing the theme of the blog. I really do like the current theme (Freshy) but I think the header image is too small. I quite like the MistyLook theme, but I’m not so sure yet. I’ll also have to edit some of the posts since the images do not fit the width of the post. So for now I’ll keep using Freshy.
On the tutorial page I added some links. I won’t make every tutorial myself since that would take way too much time. I will only make the tutorials I have something original to say about, if that makes any sense.
Oh, and I added a calendar to the right.
Basics of Hammer
So now that we have downloaded and started Valve Hammer Editor we now have this weird new screen in front of us. In this tutorial I will only explain the most important basic bits in the editor.
Introduction: Start!
In this tutorial I will explain how to download and start Hammer. We’ll also make some changes to the default settings. Let’s start mapping!
A little update
Just thought I’d give you a little update thingy.
I’ll admit I’ve been a bit lazy on the blog and with mapping. To get off my lazy ass a bit, I’ll do a post on this blog every day this week. I WILL do some mapping this afternoon, on balloon_race_v2. (thanks for the kind comment homie!)
You’d think I would have posted more since I had my Eee PC, but sadly Hammer doesn’t run very well on it. So does TF2, which doesn’t run at all. (I use it for a lot of other stuff though!) Well, aside from that, I’ve been busy with a few tutorials. They’re not finished yet. I’ve got the basics of Hammer tutorial nearly finished and I also changed the introduction to Hammer a bit. I’ll post those very soon.
I also made a Pong clone with the XNA framework. (not sure if I’ll release it, it’s not THAT interesting) We (me and two other people) are going to make a larger game with it. I don’t have much info on that yet, it’s still early in development…
