If you’re reading this you probably have watched this show or want to watch it. I’m not going to explain the story for newcomers but be prepared to see some massive spoilers (final warning!).

To start, I didn’t like the opening intro much at first. The song (“Little wing”) was okay and the animation was bland. As I just finished the show I can say I liked the song and the animation for it was still bland. One thing I do like is how it doesn’t spoil anything to you. And I love the Engrish… everyone loves Engrish.

I liked the ending better. The song (“Daichi no la-li-la”) reminds me of the opening/ending songs of Azumanga Daioh, which is no surprise since it’s the same singer. Plus it features this cool shot of Zephiris.

What’s up with this guy? I know it’s Pacifica’s twin brother but it looks like they just slapped her head on there. He doesn’t do much for the story either, thus making him sit in the same league as Marina Ismail from Gundam 00. Did he do anything besides stabbing Pacifica and himself at the end?

Did I say I like Zephiris? (Natalie was a bit of a wasted character in my opinion, though it’s not that bad)

I watched the show with the English dub and the way Cz’s compressed state talked sounded really funny. I guess that’s to be expected of a 5000 year old 5 year old. Too bad the fun with her didn’t last longer. I wonder what she did all these years before in this compressed state.

I liked how they shared an umbrella when she was still in her innocent compressed form and again while she was observing Shannon. Maybe not everything of Cz’s friendly personality was lost. It was based on something after all. If only she moved to the good guys….

This guy’s mask instantly reminded me of those funny japanese smileys. Σ(゜д゜;) He survived and was working in a “medieval” fast food restaurant in one of the later episodes. Talk about  a demotion.

The story was so awesome! I didn’t fall asleep at all, like Pacifica did here. It follows Arthur C. Clarke’s third law according to Wikipedia:

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

I can definitely see why. It feels natural to have some sort of flying aircraft in medieval style RPG’s. So why not for this anime? The backstory was really cool, I never expected it would take place in the same universe as ours.

I just loved this face Pacifica makes as she watches the Japanese video in the Skid. Ultimate “What the hell is this crap?” face.

Pacifica looks more drugged than stabbed in this screencap. Stabbed in the back by her own brother, that’s pretty harsh.

Yay for unexplored secondary (tertiary?) characters! I don’t even know her name. :\ Is this really one of the elite fighting soldiers in the highest order of the army??? I’d like to know how they hire these people.

Some Leo to taper off with. He’s been through much in this series and still gets rejected? I feel sorry for him. Even Fulle would want those two to be happy together. Why not? D:

Okay, that’s it for the Scrapped Princess post! I liked to make funny complaints in this post so please don’t take it too seriously. This show is way beyond awesome and it’s one of my all-time favorites! It certainly grabs your attention and runs with it all the way.

• Changed lighting and fog to more closely resemble Well.
• The shield wall in the hangar now has a delay of 10 seconds to stop spawncamping.
• It’s now impossible to build in the hangar.
• The balloon ships now explode when the round is over.
• The hangar is a bit bigger and more well lit.
• CP 4 is now a huge rock.
• The balloons now bank (roll) slightly in corners.

Bug fixes:

• Tried to fix the falling through the balloon bug by placing a safety teleport in the underside and backside of the balloon. Also placed some extra clip brushes to prevent this.

This map is open source! (I’m sure you’d all decompile it anyway you sick little monkeys )
I haven’t included the textures and sounds so you’ll have to un-pakrat it.

So what are the basic entities?

Balloon ship

The balloon ship itself is a func_tracktrain. This train follows a path of path_track entities. Some important flags for the train are:

• No pitch (or else the camera screws up whenever someone teleports in, since the teleporter destinations are parented)
• No user control (since an entity should handle train speed)
• Is unblockable by player (the player is killed if blocking)

The important entities that the balloon uses are:

• Trigger_multiple: At the wheel, this controls the speed by checking if a player is inside this entity.
• Logic_timer: This is triggered by the trigger_multiple. Raises the speed if a player is inside the trigger_multiple for a set amount of seconds
• Another logic_timer: Decreases the speed of the ship by a set amount of seconds if no-one is in the trigger_multiple.
• A math_counter: Stores a number: the current speed of the train. Is raised/lowered by the logic_timers. Higher = faster, lower = slower.
• A logic_case: This fires one logic_relay depending on the speed in the math_counter.
• A series of logic_relays: one for each speed. These set the train speed (SetSpeedReal) and lets the game_text show.
• A series of game_text, called by the logic_relays. This shows a line on the HUD with the speed.

All the speed entities

Some other entities that the balloon uses:

• A mapobj_cart_dispenser, for healing on the go. Triggered by a dispenser_touch_trigger and sits above a dispenser prop_dynamic.
• A couple of info_teleport_destinations, for quick return on the ship. (also use one for the ladder)
• A filter_team, so the other team can’t use this balloon’s entities. Also used this for the spawn room doors, teleporters.

The points and track

The control points must not be linked! The teams must be able to capture a next point even if they don’t have the previous one.

Per control point:

• One team_control_point, set the previous required point 1 (blue AND red) to itself.
• One trigger_capture_area, sets blue/red mat_counter +1 if captured. Also sets the cap_point_base.mdl skin and raises the flag of the team that captured this point.
• One path_track to stop the train. (will not stop train if point is already captured)
• Three logic_relay, one for the red team, another for blue. I put these next to the trigger_capture_area in positions close to the path_track of each team. And yet another one for basic stuff that needs to happen if one of the teams captures a point. Something like enabling the trigger_multiple of both balloons or disabling the other relays. (so the losing team can continue without stopping so they can catch up)

Lastly:

• One team_control_point_master, tells the HUD how to lay out the cap points. Also does some round rules.
• Two math_counters, storing the score for each team. (if HitMax, then the other team’s balloon blows up and your team wins)

I hope that was a bit clarifying. I don’t like big walls of text either.
